Important DUI Tips

  • Your #1 priority should be to an expert DUI lawyer to help defend you as soon as possible.
  • Do not hire a criminal lawyer with no DUI experience, your case needs to be defended properly, and your lawyer will know DUI Tips that will help you get off.
  • If your blood alcohol level exceeds .08 you are eligible for DUI in most states.
  • One of the best DUI Tips is to keep your BAC low, never drink on an empty stomach.
  • Alcohol gets absorbed in food, it is one of the well-known DUI Tips to start drinking on a full stomach.
  • Beware, even a single drink on an empty stomach will cause your BAC levels to rise.
  • If you are pulled over, you might be asked to take a sobriety test, this could be as simple as to touch your nose and/or walk a straight line. You may refuse this test, however, you may then subject yourself to a BAC test. It is best not to refuse a BAC test. You have already agreed to take the BAC test by owning and driving your vehicle, this is known as "implied consent".
  • If you are sure that you are not in violation, one of the best DUI Tips is to ask the officer for a fully calibrated machine or other test to determine accuracy. It is better not to use a breathalyzer, as a breathalyzer can produce false results.
  • A breathalyzer test is not full proof, there are certain foods and medications which will cause a false reading. Remember what you ate and drank that night. Also note your medication, and if you are a woman, make note if you are taking an oral contraceptive. Provide all of this information to your DUI Attorney. These are great little DUI Tips that can help you win your case.
  • If you are out drinking, tell your friends about the DUI Tips you read here and check your BAC on a continuous basis with a portable breathalyzer. This will help remind you to stop drinking as you approach the BAC limit. Do not wait until you are about the drive to take the breathalyzer test, as by then you may have already exceeded the BAC limit.
  • Most important! You have a set time to request a hearing, you need to act quickly.
  • Hire an experienced DUI attorney from the area you received your summons from to represent you.
  • Do not take the Field Sobriety Tests. These are voluntary and not mandatory if you are over 21 years of age
  • One of the most important DUI Tips is to be on your best behavior as a lot of jurisdictions video tape the arrest. Make a detailed list of all the events from the time you are stopped to the time you are released.
  •

We hope that these DUI Tips will keep you out of trouble. Remember out of all the DUI Tips we have, the best one is, be responsible.
