Iowa DUI Attorney

The State of Iowa imposes a strict rule when it comes to DUI. Though they observe the same BAC level legal limit of 0.08 percent, your license will be suspended for 180 days (6 months) on your first offense alone. On your 2nd conviction, your driving privileges will be taken away from you for 1 year and 2 years for the 3rd time around, with mandatory jail time. You will also need to take mandatory alcohol education to reduce the penalties and restoration of driving privilege.

Though your vehicle will remain in your possession, you cannot apply for a hardship license during the first 90 days of license suspension. You can only request after that period but it is still under courts discretion to grant it or not.

Iowa also observes Open Container Law for driver and passenger. So even if you are not intoxicated, you can still be charged with DUI.

These are just the highlights of Iowa Code 9-30-5 (main provisions of Iowa DUI Law). If you have an existing Iowa DUI case, better call our Iowa DUI Attorney and get legal advice as soon as possible. Remember that DUI is a crime. It will ruin your future, your career and life if you failed to handle it well. Trust our Iowa DUI attorneys because they are the only ones who can help you with your DUI charges.
